The team at Landis Construction joined with officials from Delgado Community College on June 23 for a Topping Out ceremony, marking a major milestone in the construction of the college’s new Culinary & Workforce Building.

“A topping out ceremony is one of the oldest and most meaningful traditions in our industry,” said Kyle Condon, Chief Construction Officer at Landis. “It marks the placement of the building’s highest structural member and gives us an opportunity to pause and recognize the people whose dedication and hard work have made this moment possible.”

“Projects like this don’t happen by accident,” Condon added. “They are built through strong partnerships, careful planning, and countless hours of skilled craftsmanship. We’d like to thank Delgado Community College, CSRS, and LCTCS for entrusting Landis Construction with this important project, and for the collaboration we’ve shared throughout the process.”

Located at 615 City Park Ave., the Culinary & Workforce Building will be a 40,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility that will host the college’s Culinary Arts and Industrial Workforce programs. The Culinary Arts program will include new, fully equipped teaching kitchens, a demonstration kitchen with tiered seating for over 70 students, a multi-purpose dining room that can host student dinners, an outdoor dining patio and classrooms, computer labs, and offices.

During the ceremony, Condon thanked Landis’s design team members from Manning Architects & Mackey Mitchel Architects, our engineering design consultants, all trade partners, suppliers, and every member of the construction team. Most importantly, the Landis team expressed its gratitude to the men and women working in the field each day.

“At Landis, we believe that every project is about more than constructing a building — it’s about creating places that serve people and strengthen communities,” Condon said. “This facility will prepare future chefs, skilled tradespeople, and workforce professionals who will contribute to the economic vitality of New Orleans and our region for decades to come. We are proud to play a role in building that future.”

The Workforce Training program includes large, flexible open workspaces for the skilled trades training programs of Electrical and Welding. There are three areas of specialization for the Electrical program, which include Commercial Electric, Maritime, and Residential. The Welding areas feature a large indoor workshop with individual welding stations, a CNC cutting machine, a plasma cutter and saws as well as an outdoor area for cutting and grinding.
