Landis Construction announced today that it has achieved Platinum Status in the Associated Builders and Contractors’ STEP® Health and Safety Management System for the fourth consecutive year.
The STEP program enables top-performing Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) members such as Landis to achieve incident rates 278 percent safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics construction industry average, reducing total recordable incident rates by 64 percent.
“Reaching Platinum Status for the fourth year in a row tells us our safety culture isn’t a one-time achievement — it’s how we operate every single day,” said Kyle Condon, chief construction officer at Landis Construction. “Nothing matters more to us than making sure every person on our jobsites goes home safely each day, and this recognition reflects the discipline and shared core values our team members bring towards that goal.”
The real-world impacts of STEP are based on the findings in ABC’s 2026 Health and Safety Performance Report, an annual guide to construction jobsite health and safety best practices. Established in 1989, STEP provides contractors and suppliers with a robust, no-cost framework for measuring health and safety data, and benchmarking with peers in the industry.
In addition to participating in ABC’s STEP program, Landis facilitates an active Safety Council that includes team members of all levels, and partners with ESC Safety Consultants, a third-party firm that performs random safety checks across all job sites.
STEP participants measure their safety processes and policies on key components and the criteria for best practices through a detailed questionnaire, with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs that reduce jobsite incident rates.
