Landis Construction’s build-out of Lennys Grill & Subs, a modern restaurant inside a 1952 building in Pensacola’s Historic Palafox District, received an Eagle Award at the 2026 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) North Florida Chapter Excellence in Construction Awards.
Winners were honored on Oct. 21 at a gala at Supposey Warehouse in Pensacola, which brought together contractors, clients, architects, engineers, and trade partners from across the region.
“The award is especially meaningful for our team because Lennys was our first commercial project in the Pensacola market,” said Casey Capps, Landis’s Pensacola Lead and superintendent on the Lennys project.
Located at 96 E. Garden St., the restaurant received its certificate of occupancy and passed its health inspection on July 10. A soft opening was held July 16, and Lennys celebrated its grand opening on July 30.
Landis managed the project from permitting and licensing through final walk-through, working closely with ownership and local trade partners to deliver a space that met both operational needs and customer expectations.
“Turning a historic building into a working restaurant required careful attention to quality at every stage,” said Casey Capps, Landis’s Pensacola Lead and superintendent on the Lennys project. “Unlike a typical franchise build-out, the work balanced the installation of contemporary building systems with the preservation of the original architectural elements that give the Palafox District its character.”
