The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience opened its doors for the first time today at 818 Howard Avenue. Due to continued coronavirus concerns the museum opened its doors at 10 a.m. without a formal ceremony which is hoped to take place later in the year. The museum explores the Jewish experience throughout 13 states in the American South in the last 300 years. Artifacts are on display that span the Colonial, Civil War, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement.
