The Xavier University Faculty Housing project was the first of its kind in the greater New Orleans area. The work’s unique scope consisted of new construction of five different floor plans on ten lots over a six-block radius in the Mid-City area near the university. The houses, which were designed to complement the style of the existing neighborhood, were built to adhere to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Standards, receiving the “Gold” level certification. Green elements such as bamboo floors, spray foam insulation, bluwood for framing and decking, and low-VOC paints and sealants, were utilized heavily across the entire project. A new and advanced framing method was also used to reduce the number of studs in the houses, and the need for lumber and other materials.

From post-bid construction analysis through final punchlist completion, Landis worked diligently with our firm to build an exemplary new school, one which impressed the client enough to become the RSD’s prototype design for future elementary schools. Based on working with Landis Construction over several decades, I do not hesitate to highly recommend Landis for your upcoming construction projects.
