The front of the Cambria Hotel on Tchoupitoulas Street.

Cambria Hotel

Landis completed the new Cambria Hotel, which marked the Cambria brand’s first venture into the Louisiana market, in 2017. Nestled in the heart of the trendy Warehouse District, the boutique property is surrounded by a mix of historic buildings, converted warehouses, and modern commercial and residential structures. With brick facade and its mullioned windows, it feels as if it has been there forever, an integral part of the neighborhood’s fabric. The site of the hotel had remained underutilized for years, bypassed by developers because of its odd footprint, limited street frontage, and strict regulatory restrictions. The tight urban infill location of the project required an extraordinary level of coordination and cooperation with the owners of adjacent properties, a process that Landis skillfully managed with professionalism, communication with the neighbors consistently, and always being available to address their concerns. BIM coordination of MEPF systems was critical for accommodating the 8′ 8-1/2″ floor-to-floor height for the 162 guestrooms. The seven-story building located at 632 Tchoupitoulas Street boasts industrial design fit into its historical context while offering thoughtful amenities including 1,200 square feet of meeting space, a business center, bar, select service restaurant, several lounge spaces, a fitness area, and administrative/support spaces.
