Saenger Theatre Repairs

  • Historic Preservation

Landis was hired as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) to assist in developing a solution to damages sustained on the historic Saenger building in October 2019 during the collapse and subsequent implosion at an adjacent property, the Hard Rock Hotel.

The scope of work included three main elements: 1.) repairs to structural components within the attic of the theatre building; 2.) repair of the roof decking and underlayment where damaged and complete installation of a new roof membrane at the entire facility; and 3.) miscellaneous repairs to the exterior building façade (including damaged marble wall panels, windows, cornices, canopy and canopy support structure, doors and hardware, program display cases, etc.) and the interior ceiling. The project had to be performed during active demolition happening on the collapsed adjacent property, which required large precautionary measures and coordination. And as the project neared completion, the final phase involved intricate coordination with the theatre as they began running shows again in a partially under-construction property.
