Located in the heart of the city’s Central Business District the recently-completed Sonesta ES Suites marks the second New Orleans property in Sonesta’s growing portfolio. Landis completed this historic renovation project in December 2019, which included extended-stay guest rooms, a new vestibule, reception area, market, business center, buffet, kitchen, public restroom supporting office space, breakroom, fitness center, and exterior facade repairs. Each of the residence-style units was designed to accommodate the diverse needs of modern travelers. The spacious suites feature adaptable work and open common spaces with separate living and sleeping areas, as well as fully equipped kitchens that provide versatility for those traveling on business for short or extended periods of time, as well as for families on vacation or relocating.

In total, the new hotel houses 190 guest rooms, including penthouse, two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio suites, and an outdoor rooftop terrace situated on the building’s third floor offering communal yard space, seating areas and BBQ grills as well as lounge chairs. It is also home to several dining and entertainment venues that allow guests to experience local Cajun and Creole Cuisine while enjoying live music.

The Sonesta ES Suites project earned Landis top honors from ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter with a 2020 Excellence in Construction Award.

Landis impressed from the jump with this extremely tight 5-month renovation, especially given the many obstacles they had to overcome. Two weeks into the start of construction, the 1st floor flooded, elevators were down for extended periods, simultaneous construction was taking place directly next door, and progress on the 12th floor was stalled due to an ongoing police investigation. All this being said, Landis more than made up the time, and at the request of the Owner, completed the project in time to capitalize on Sugar Bowl weekend reservations. I valued the all-hands-on-deck approach with which the Landis organization treated our project from the top down. The last couple months comprised long days and extensive coordination, but the whole team rose to the challenge.
